Fun & Fitness with Friends Recreation program for children and teens with special needs

Fun & Fitness with Friends is a social and recreation program for children and teens with special needs. The program provides a supportive, structured, and nurturing environment to develop new skills and make friends.
Children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including: sports, swimming, arts & crafts, cooking, dance/movement, and more.
Each child is paired with a trained volunteer who assists them and provides one-on-one attention throughout the program.
Spring Session: February 10th - April 28th, excluding February 24th and March 24 (10 weeks)
Day & Time: Sundays, 1:00pm-4:00pm
Fee: APJCC members $175 non-members $200
Summer Session: July 7th-August 25th (8 weeks)
Day & Time: Sundays, 1:00pm-4:00pm
Fee: APJCC members $140 non-members $160
Fun and Fitness with Friends offers two separate programs, each geared towards the needs of different age groups.
Youth Fun and Fitness with Friends is for children ages 6 to 12. The Youth Program, located solely on site at the JCC, will offer physical, social and creative events.
Teen Fun and Fitness with Friends is for ages 13 to 18. In addition to offering creative, social and physical offerings, teens will engage the community by participating in field trips to various, near-by, locations.

Volunteer Opportunities
One of Fun and Fitness with Friends’ greatest strengths is our team of volunteer “Buddies” who work one on one with our incredible children and teens.
Benefits of Volunteering In addition to making friends and making a real difference in the life of other children, volunteers also benefit with a free membership to the JCC during the length of the program, high school students can earn community service hours, and job seekers and college bound individuals can earn skills and experience.
Volunteer “Buddy” Requirements Must be 15 years old or older, must commit to working Sundays from 12:30 to 4:30pm for the extent of the program, ability to lift 50 lbs, ability to be on feet for long periods of time, and must submit to a LiveScan fingerprinting and background check.
